Guide for Using Digital Stationery®
in Apple Mail

Please note: Although Apple Mail now has a "Stationery" feature, this should not be used since it was designed for consumer use - invitations, birthday cards, etc. - not for business use. The procedure described below is the only reliable way we have found to use Digital Stationery® in Apple Mail.

To Set Up Your Stationery in Apple Mail. (You will do these steps only once.)

Save Your Stationery Templates in a new "My Stationery" Folder

We will send you your blank stationery templates in separate messages. When you can see these messages in your Inbox:

  1. Create a new mail folder called "My Stationery".
  2. Drag and drop each of your stationery messages into the "My Stationery" folder.

You now have permanently stored each of your stationery templates in the folder called "My Stationery." You will not have to do steps #1 and #2 again; they were a one-time set-up requirement. Whenever you need to use your stationery, you will go to this folder.

To Use Your Stationery in Apple Mail.

For New Messages:

  1. Click on the "My Stationery" folder.
  2. Click on the message with the template that you want to use; this will open that stationery
  3. On the "Message" menu, click "Send Again".
  4. Delete your name in the To: line and address the message appropriately.
  5. Change the subject line to the subject you want to use.
  6. Type and send your message.

This procedure allows you to reuse your blank stationery over and over while keeping the master copy in your "My Stationery" folder.

Important Tip: If you want to create a portfolio of messages that contain message content that you will reuse - like directions to your office, a description of your services, or your standard price list - you can easily to that by opening a blank stationery template, composing the message, and sending it to yourself. When it comes into your Inbox you simply move it to your "My Stationery" folder and then use it as often as you need it following the "Send Again" procedure outlined above.

For Replies or Forwards:

Using your stationery in replies and forwards is essentially a two step process: 1) copy your stationery to your clipboard and 2) paste it into the reply or forward message. Here are the detailed steps.

Step 1: Get the stationery on your clipboard

  1. Go to your "MPS Stationery" folder and open the template you want to use.
  2. Click your cursor once in the white area of your stationery
  3. Type <Command>-A to select all and <Command>-C to copy it to your clipboard.

Step 2: Paste it into your reply or forward message

  1. Close the open template and return to your Inbox.
  2. Open the message you want to reply to and click your cursor in the message area.
  3. Type <Command>-V to paste in your stationery template.
  4. You can now type your message as you normally would.

This may seem like a bit of extra work, but when you get used to the procedure you'll find it to be quite easy.

You have to Stand Out to Be Noticed!
